Welcome to Mekit Reach Shipping. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our courier, freight forwarding, and related shipping services. By accessing our website, creating an account, or using any of our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must discontinue use of our services immediately.

These Terms apply to all users of our services, including but not limited to customers who register on our platform, ship packages through our network, or use our assisted online shopping services.

2. Services Overview

Mekit Reach Shipping provides the following services:

  • Freight Forwarding: Air and sea freight shipping from the United States to Jamaica.
  • Package Tracking: Real-time tracking of shipments through our online customer portal.
  • Last-Mile Delivery: Optional delivery service from our local warehouse to your specified address.
  • Assisted Online Shopping: We purchase items on your behalf from U.S. retailers in exchange for cash payment.
  • Email Notifications: Alerts regarding package arrivals, shipping updates, and promotional offers.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of our services at any time with reasonable notice.

3. Account Registration

To use our services, you must create a free account on our customer portal. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
  • Maintain and promptly update your account information to keep it accurate.
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account.
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain inaccurate information or that violate these Terms.

4. Shipping & Delivery

4.1 Shipping Timelines

Estimated delivery times are provided as guidelines and are not guaranteed. Air freight shipments typically arrive within 4-5 business days after reaching our U.S. warehouse. Sea freight timelines vary and will be communicated at the time of booking. Delays may occur due to customs processing, weather, carrier schedules, or other factors beyond our control.

4.2 Warehouse Receiving

Our U.S. warehouse operates during standard business hours, Monday through Friday. Packages are not received on weekends or U.S. public holidays. You are responsible for ensuring your packages are shipped to the correct warehouse address as provided in your customer portal.

4.3 Package Collection

Packages must be collected within 14 days of notification of arrival at our local facility. Uncollected packages may be subject to storage fees. We are not responsible for packages that remain uncollected beyond 30 days.

4.4 Invoices

Invoices are mandatory for all shipments. Invoices help us accurately declare contents and values to Customs authorities. Failure to provide an invoice may result in delays or additional charges.

5. Prohibited & Restricted Items

You are prohibited from shipping items that are illegal under Jamaican or U.S. law. Restricted items include but are not limited to:

  • Firearms, ammunition, and weapons of any kind
  • Explosives, flammable materials, and hazardous chemicals
  • Illegal drugs and controlled substances
  • Perishable food items (unless specifically arranged)
  • Currency, negotiable instruments, and precious metals
  • Counterfeit or pirated goods
  • Items prohibited by the Jamaica Customs Agency

We reserve the right to inspect, refuse, or dispose of any package suspected of containing prohibited items. Shipping prohibited items may result in account termination and reporting to relevant authorities.

6. Customs & Duties

All shipments are subject to customs inspection and applicable import duties as determined by the Jamaica Customs Agency. You are solely responsible for:

  • Accurately declaring the contents and value of all shipments.
  • Paying all applicable customs duties, taxes, and fees.
  • Complying with all import regulations of Jamaica.

Items valued at US$100 or above may attract customs duty. We recommend keeping individual item values below US$100 where possible. Deliberate undervaluation or misrepresentation of goods is a violation of customs law and may result in penalties, seizure of goods, and termination of your account.

7. Liability & Claims

7.1 Limitation of Liability

While we take reasonable care in handling your shipments, our liability for loss, damage, or delay is limited as follows:

  • Liability for lost or damaged packages is limited to the declared value of the contents or US$100, whichever is lower, unless additional insurance is purchased.
  • We are not liable for damage resulting from inadequate packaging by the sender or retailer.
  • We are not liable for delays caused by customs processing, weather events, carrier disruptions, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
  • We are not liable for items confiscated by customs authorities.

7.2 Filing Claims

Claims for lost or damaged packages must be submitted in writing within 7 days of the expected delivery date. Claims must include proof of the item's value (purchase receipt or invoice). We will investigate all claims and respond within 14 business days.

8. Payment Terms

Shipping rates are published on our website and are subject to change with reasonable notice. Payment is due before package release. We accept the payment methods specified on our platform.

  • Rates are calculated based on package weight. Oversize items may incur additional fees.
  • All prices are quoted in Jamaican Dollars (JMD) unless otherwise stated.
  • Outstanding balances must be cleared before new shipments can be processed or collected.
  • We reserve the right to hold packages until all outstanding fees are paid in full.

9. Privacy & Data

We are committed to protecting your personal information. When you use our services, we collect and process personal data including your name, contact information, shipping addresses, and transaction history. This data is used to:

  • Process and fulfill your shipments.
  • Communicate shipping updates and account notifications.
  • Improve our services and customer experience.
  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Data may be shared with customs authorities and delivery partners as necessary to complete your shipments.
